However, I'm still a little confused if these characters have subtle "powers" or maybe my comprehension was shot for that day and read it wrong. All in all, I'm excited to learning more about them. In Summer's episode, her actions and thoughts allude to her morally gray behaviour, which I find more compelling. Between them, Autumn comes off as a more sympathetic character - someone readers would want to root for, naturally. In the second one, Summer 'interrogates' a thief and 'compels' him to spy for them by the end of it. In the first episode, readers are thrown into a situation where Autumn tries to a save town from annihilation. The first two episodes showed where the characters are 'now', and they were enough for me to be engaged throughout. This season reads more as a quick introduction so we don't get into the meat of things just yet. It took me a minute to get into the world. The Whitmore school teaches more than just conventional subjects. Their families opposes each other, and the girls carry their preconceived notions to the Whitmore school at age twelve. In the third ep, the story dives into the shared history between two characters and their backgrounds. We follow Autumn and Summer in the first two episodes respectively.
